Last weekend I packed by backpack again and made my way to the worlds most highest located capital – La Paz! Particularly this weekend there was the festival ‘Fiesta del Gran Poder’ (Festival of the Great Power), which is one of the biggest celebrations in town. Very similar to the carnevals in Febuary, where both locals and tourists stop what they’re doing to enjoy the show of all these colorful costumes and traditional dances parading down the streets.
Except for waching the festivities I strolled up & down the streets and took tons of photos of some of the amazing street art and buildings. I passed by the Witches’ market (Mercado de las brujas), and to the Cable car ride up to to El Alto (the worlds highest), revealing a stunning view of la paz with all its buildings and festivities going on, with the snow covered mountains and a brightyellow, full moon in the background – magical!
