Sorry for the bad update, sadly the wi-fi here is not my friend.
This weekend we climbed to the top of mountain Pico Tunari! Pico tunari is loctaed in the national park of Tunari and is a major attaction for tourists as well as bolivians. This excursion is a must do if you ever visit Bolivia, Cochabamba.
The mountain is central Bolivias highest peak and from there you can look down at the whole city of Cochabamba. In my personal experience, it was horrible and wonderful at the same. Horrible because that I got really really sick due to the altitude, but wonderful cause of its breathtaking nature and views, and of curse the feeling of victory when we finally reached the top of 5020 meters.. Passing the most beautiful green valleys with deep-blue lagoons, we saw lamas, condors, eagles, colorful butterflies and much much more... it really felt like a fairytale.
But honestly though, it was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to do since I felt so sick. I brought a lot of warm clothes, water and food, but I can’t say it helped much. As soon as we got out of the car to start the hike, my heart raised and started to pound really hard. I felt weak.. dizzy, exhausted and very very sleepy (mind that I go to the gym like every day and that I’m a very active person, but suddenly it was like I was 60 years old and have never done sports). I was so close to giving up, but thanks to amazing friends and guides, I didn’t. But I had to rest like every 20 meters to catch my breath and try to make the sourroundings to stop spinning haha. Once up at the peak it was actually very cloudy, so we didn’t see very much of the views. But we ate our lunch that we brought (hummus sandwiches for me mmm..) and I actually took a nap up there at over 5000 because I was so exhausted. Note that I’m wearing socks on my hands due to lack of gloves. 😉
In the evening, after tryin to get rid of this bad headache I got after climbing down again, we went for a fancy little dinner together with the other guys at the project. Sadly, 3 of my closest friends are now leaving Bolivia, so it was our last night out together. A very good night.
Special cred to Christian and Maggie for taking and sharing their very beutiful pics, because I forgot my camera. I’ll show you some of the ones I manage to take with my phone too. 🙂
