Wow can you believe it? Seems like yesterday I was staring out at Swedens grey winter weather from my window, wondering what Bolivia would have to offer me. And now here I am! 🙂
I both love and hate some of the contracts i see here compared to little Sweden. I love the fact how people here are just generally happy for what they have. And even if their not, they’ll still greet you and treat you with respect even if you’re a complete stranger on the bus. I hate the fact that such a community with this incredibly strong and beautiful culture has so many issues so that you don’t know were to begin. In many ways, Cochabamba is just another big city, with its markets, traffic and urban art. But the social and economic issues are nevertheless very evident both here and in other parts of Bolivia. Children begging on the street, trash lying around everywhere since there’s no good waste nor recycling system, the fear when being white & female to get robbed and/or harassed after dark.. Yeah, that’s only to mention some of the major problem areas that I have experienced/seen.
Bolivia is undoubtedly a beautiful country, rich of many things but also lack many -necessary- things.. Don’t really know were I’m going with this, I guess these are just my summed thoughts of the latest month which I felt like sharing with you guys. To be continued, I guess! 😊
