La Cancha is the largest open-air market in South America. You’ll find anything you need here. From seeds and beans to flip-flops and jewelry. And of course food from all over the world. Yet the best things you get on Wednesday and Saturday mornings when the main deliverers come, but it’s also when it’s the most crowded. This morning I joined Freddi and Carmela to La Cancha who normally go every Saturday morning to shop all the groceries for the week. I thought it was a great experience to observe how locals manage and discuss the prices, sizes and quality of the raw materials for sale. As a ‘white tourist’ there is a big risk that you get mugged and over charged, so I was glad that I had Carmela to help me. I got fresh peaches, grapes & cactus fruits!
Now I’m gonna enjoy a BIG breakfast and get ready, cause today’s the carnival 😀
